Here are my top 4 reasons why weekday elopements are awesome, and how they’ll benefit you!
Let’s face it, mountain traffic in Colorado can get absolutely crazy. It’s definitely changed from when I was a kid.. You can’t go anywhere on a weekend without sitting on the interstate. You can expect to sit anywhere from 20 minutes – two hours, depending on your final destination.
Choosing to elope on a weekday will definitely eliminate a ton of mountain traffic, and that’s always a good thing.
The chances of your fave vendors being available will be in your favor. Wedding season in Colorado peaks between May-October and vendors generally book out the year before for the larger events. So if you’re looking to hire vendors 2-4 months before your elopement date on a weekend, chances are they won’t be available. However, if your date lands on a weekday, I bet they’ll be available and really exited to book with you.
Colorado has so many elopement locations, but several of them require reservations and often book up a year in advance. Rocky Mountain National Park only allows a certain number of wedding ceremonies in the park per day, so if you elope on a weekday, chances are it will be a little easier to snag your reservation!
Other locations like Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder are a crowded mess on the weekends, but on weeknights you can expect the crowds to thin out, especially Monday- Wednesday.
Like I mentioned earlier, everyone is usually out and about on the weekends, enjoying the peace and quiet of our local lands. So if your elopement takes place in or near a popular spot, you will most likely end up with a random hiker giving a thumbs-up in the background.
I really don’t know why everyone thinks this is always funny, but I can tell you as a photographer, it gets old really fast! 🤣
In my opinion, this is one of the best reasons weekday elopements are awesome!
This post is simply about providing tips to help make your elopement as amazing as it can be! Sometimes avoiding crowds of a hundred tourists just isn’t in the cards, and that’s ok! I always do my best to make it look like my couples are completely alone in their location, and I will do the same for you! No matter where you choose to get married, it will be beautiful and a once in a lifetime experience.

Being a wedding photographer allows me to have the flexibility to homeschool my kiddos and I'm super grateful for that. Family first + always.
